Does commercial fertilizer produce faster and coarser growth than regular lawn fertilizer, and is it depleted more quickly in the soil?

When commercial fertilizer (e.g. 27-2.5-5) is used on lawns, does it produce faster and coarser growth than specially compounded lawn fertilizers, which generally have a lower nitrogen content? Additionally, is the commercial variety depleted more quickly in the soil than the regular lawn type?

Farm fertilizers such as high nitrogen fertilizers are similar to basic lawn fertilizers, but they contain higher nitrogen levels and are very effective. They are quick-release and provide rapid results, but overuse can result in excessive mowing. If you use them, apply them in small amounts, 15 per square meter at a time. They are much less expensive than specially compounded lawn fertilizers.
