Fertilizing a Newly Planted Laurel Hedge

I recently planted a new laurel hedge and have been advised to apply 10.10.20 fertilizer on it. Is this necessary, and what is your advice?

If the soil is of good quality, fertilizing may not be necessary for the laurel hedge. However, applying any general fertilizer, such as 10-10-20, in March can enhance growth. Use 25g per meter of hedge on each side, and ensure that weeds are controlled within 50cm of the hedge.
