Repairing Lawn Damage Caused by Cattle

My newly seeded lawn was damaged by cattle. The holes were filled with topsoil and reseeded, but some areas are still indented. The same cattle broke in again and caused more damage. How can I repair this damage, and when is the best time to do it?

To repair the damage caused by the cattle, it is best to work on it when the ground is wet. Use a shovel to hit each pockmark a few times to almost fill it in. Add a small amount of topsoil to fill it in and allow the grass to grow back, or you can sprinkle some grass seed on top. The surface damage will disappear reasonably quickly. Alternatively, you can bring a claim for this damage and get some legal advice. Remember, good fences make good neighbors!
